Blame Carly for bringing this up. 1
I’m terrible at color schemes. Â I have a coder’s idea of color. Â Sure, people have written careful articles explaining how to pick a color scheme. Â Sure there’s even a website that helps you pick color schemes.
But why not make it easier, and have a wordpress plugin that does it for me?
I’m thinking of a wordpress plugin that you wire up by saying “Here are class names or element id’s that should be given the same color.”
Upon every load, the plugin inserts Javascript that picks a color scheme of any particular type, generates colors for it, and then dynamically constructs CSS to style your site that way. Â You’d always have a new look, and it would always be at least decent looking 2Â .
Even better – why not take a trick from ColorSuckr and look at the images on the page, then generate the theme to complement the picture?
This is a project I’ll probably never get to, but it could be fun.
like me with my wardrobe: I pick pieces out of the closet consisting of various things that i have bought over the years and hope my day's outfit is at least decent looking
There is already a photoblog theme for wordpress that adjusts it's color scheme to match the most recent photo posted.
Oooh cool! Remember the name at all? If I can extract some of that code it might lessen the barrier to starting this project.
I think @hubs is thinking of Monotone. There's also a follow-up theme, the aptly titled Duotone, both by friend and colleague, Noël. He posted some slides from a breakdown of the thinking behind it, in case that's of interest.
Love the idea of AutoThemer, btw!
